SUSTAINABLE HOUSING

JIG has worked with several housing associations and their suppliers to increase the "sustainability" factor in specific projects. Projects previously funded by Communities Scotland necessitated housing associations to consider matters such as:

  • construction waste minimisation
  • opportunities for long term waste management
  • alternative energy technologies and energy reduction
  • SUDS, and so on.

Although the metrics are different, private housebuilders can differentiate their products and reduce construction costs by following the same principles.
